About Me
I have a lot of
experience in consulting, informing, structuring, designing and
building accessible, functional websites and a lot of experience in
structuring sound via the internet from my time at BBC Radio (now Audio) &
Music Interactive. From leading a very strong team of developers between 2001 and 2006, I have extensive people and project management
experience and training. My team and I were responsible for the technical client-side code of the following BBC websites: Radios 1-5live, 6music, 1xtra, Asian Network, BBC7 Music, The Proms, the launch of the Radio Player (now part of the iPlayer) as well as a number of pan-BBC project affects on the department.
I started my career as a runner in a commercial art studio, in the '80s (before the Internet!), delivering and liaising with advertising creatives on storyboards and 'above the line' campaign mock-ups. I then worked as a paste-up artist for Deadline comic where I also spent time as a Tank Girl lookalike for the magazine, having to shave my head with a Bic razor on several occasions and appearing on the cover of the April 1990 issue! I also enjoyed a fruitful career as a make-up artist during the '90s beautifying models, actors, musicians for photo and video shoots, before changing tack and teaching myself how to build websites.
I also DJ hip hop, old school, funk, soul and disco.
I spent 5 months living in Lisbon in 2006, where I endeavoured to improve my
Portuguese language skills as well as discovering more about the
country and its people. I have since, been back more times than I can
count and consider it my second home.
