Content Management Systems

I have experience with a variety of content management systems mostly open-source , tried and tested, proven applications. Once I can ascertain what type of content delivery you want to acheive, then I can advise you on the best system for you.

There are many content management systems out there on the market which for a novice can be overwhelming. i've written a summary of the ones that I support below which i hope will help you get a clearer idea as to what they can do for you and your business.

WordPress

The most well-used and well-known blogging software, Wordpress is also has a very large online community and many extra functions that can be plugged in to the basic set up. Even though it is a blogging platform, Wordpress is also powerful enough to use as a content management system.

If you want a basic blog that's functionality can be scaled up over time, then Wordpress is most likely the best choice for you.

Moveable Type

If you want to run multiple blogs from one space and one administration panel, then Movable Type might be the best choice for you. It is a very powerful blogging system and I use it for this website. It is particularly suitable for high-traffic sites.

Drupal

Drupal is a very powerful content management system which allows the user to have a certain degree of customisation over and above what is built for them by a designer and developer. If you want the freedom to decide and changed where various modules/elements will appear on your site then Drupal may be the system for you.

Expression Engine

Expression Engine is not open source like the previous examples but a licence is not too expensive. It does offer the possibility of publishing multiple websites from one administration panel and it has a very clean, easy to use admin area. There is a useful wiki addition to the system which makes running a blog and a wiki in one admin much easier.

Mediawiki

Mediawiki is the engine behind Wikipedia. It is a very powerful wiki and has a large community behind it.
