Web Development

I work to W3C web standards and test all sites for accesibility and usability. All code that I write is marked up semantically allowing for the leanest and most flexible code I can produce.

Here are some examples of my web development work.

Slow Down London Festival

This site was designed in Wordpress and eas designed by Paul Finn.

Zenways.org

Whilst working on the design and development of zenways.org, I disussed at length with Julain Daizan Skinner, what it was that he needed to update on his site and gauged his level of understanding about this technology. I decided to build his site in Wordpress as it was easy and friendly for him to use as well as a well tried and tested content management system. After designing his site I built a complete theme for him to use in XHTML, PHP and CSS.

E-Health Plus

I was asked to look at content management solutions for a large pan-univeristy project. The users were of varying experience so I decided to produce the main site in Wordpress and use Mediawiki as the collaborative tool. The same design was incorporated into separate themes for both systems so that they appeared the same to the visitors of the site.

BBC Radio

In 2002 BBC Radio & Music not only gained 5 new digital radio services but needed a complete revamp of the radio homepage. I was very involved in the overall project management of the launches of all 5 new radio websites but also built the new radio homepage (designed by Louise Ventris) to accomodate the new stations as well as offer access to the world service and some regional stations too.

I was also very involved in the launch of the BBC Radio Player. I built the basic shell and handed this over to a member of my team Dawn Budge, to build the remainder of the dynamic code.
